Hello!
Well she`s been! She is a nurse specialising in complex care needs. She was nice and said she had read my care plan and it was last done in 2014. said they dont usually take notice of care plans over 2 years old. But she saw it is due again next year. I told her a review officer came to see me earlier this year. Daughter was with me and says my mum and dad both need re-assessing as they are really struggling. I am now fretting and wonder if they will want to see a new care plan. That could take a while.
I told her we have asked for new full assessment today. We are on a waiting list for that.
She went through asking me about toileting/incontinence and what help I need....I said full help
Dressing...I can put a jumper on...nothing else
Do I have good days and bad days......was today good or bad...told her it varies by tiredness but today I am anxious due to the assessment
Washing/showering...what bits I can do and cant....told her
Can I re-position myself when seated....no
Can I lean forward...no
Can I twirl my ankles, flex my feet, stand....all no
She had me lifting my arms, turning my hands over, putting thumb to forefinger...that was ok
She asked about hearing aids...told her I have had one but it didnt help and that I can get muddled when talking to more than 1 person, due to hearing loss.
She asked if I know what bills we pay and what income we have...said hubby sees to that
She asked me about going out and who with. TOld her I go out with carer or hubby or family. Asked if I like going out...said yes, but get very tired and get low back pain due to trundling around.
She didnt ask if I can follow a journey .
She asked if I use a normal knife and fork.
She asked about my many choking fits and if they cause me to go to hospital....they dont. Told her I have had a therapist who gave me throat exercises to do which help, but I choke on water!
She asked other stuff too. But I`m so tired now I cant think what.
I`ve put as much together as I can in the hope it might help someone else.
After years of knowing today was coming..it`s done. I honestly cannot tell you how I think it went. Just have to wait and see...about 8 weeks she said.
If you want to ask me anything else, please do.

Hi,I'm glad it finally went ahead. You won't need to have another care plan written for the purpose of a PIP claim. Care plans are not changed yearly unless there's a change in your needs. The plan should have been accepted, even though it was done more than 2 years ago.Wait a week and then ring DWP to request a copy of the report to be sent to you. This will give you some idea what the decision is likely to be because they mostly go with the report.Waiting times vary depending on backlog in your area and there's really no timescales. It can often take between 2-8 weeks, sometimes longer. Your DLA will continue until a decision's been made on the PIP.Do let us know the outcome. Good luck.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.
