Pip home visits .Assessors Identification

Do pip assessors have to show their ID  as my son had a home visit, she showed no identification just said her name and when I asked her profession she said she’s was not at liberty to say.
Why not? I wanted to know the right person was doing the home visit who could assess my son properly.
To show me no identification as to prove who she was surely isn’t right either?

    HI,

Did you ask her for her ID? if you didn't was there any reason why?

They don't have to tell you their profession, that's entirely up to them.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

I completely forgot, she started asking to plug her laptop in, which she should have had fully charged for the visit and she kept telling me to stop interrupting when she asked my son questions, he suffers terrible anxiety and struggles to speak to anybody about it and her threatening to cancel his pip claim if he didn’t speak up didn’t help one bit. DAMN WOMAN!!!

Are you your son's appointee? If so then you could have spoken on his behalf. If you're not then i'm afraid your son would have had to speak for himself during the assessment.

@jplcats - as poppy says I don't believe that you can answer for your son...

I have carried out interviews (not, I might add, for the DWP) and it can be very difficult when you have someone there in addition to the person being interviewed - if you don't control it properly you can end up with two answers to every question!!

Sometimes the charge on laptops can drain very quickly, especially if it has an old battery. It may not always be possible for a laptop to be fully charged for home assessments.

plus  it was first thing in the morning so the battery should have been charged for the visit prior.

You should not have been told this and if it was me i'd put in a complaint with the health assessment providers, although it will be your word against theirs.  Being his appointee means you should have been able to speak on his behalf, with the exception of a few questions at the end of the assessment.

For future assessments then always have a copy of the proof of appointee to hand, so you can show it if this ever happens again.

@jplcats - I found this in the DWP guidelines which might help in the future?

"Where a claimant has an appointee, this will be flagged in the initial referral to the AP. Where an appointee has been nominated to represent the claimant, the claimant must not be instructed to attend a face-to-face consultation by the AP. This is because they have been deemed incapable of engaging directly with the DWP or its contracted APs. Instead, and only if a face-to- face consultation is deemed necessary, the AP must send the invite to the appointee only. However, it should be noted that where the named appointee, be this a corporate or individual appointee, he can nominate another person to represent them at any face-to-face consultation. That said, the HP should make every effort to obtain evidence in order to conduct a paper-based review in these circumstances."

    AP = assessment provider...

Edit - there seems to be a typo in the last part but you can sill get the gist...

My f2f at home was this week.
The assessor showed us ID and said she is a nurse.
I directly asked her again about her being a nurse and she explained she is a nurse specialising in complex care needs.
My daughter was present and chipped in where necessary. No comment was made about this.
As for being told the claim would be stopped...that`s appalling!

still not had a decision, but I asked for a copy of the assessors report, it turns out she is a Nurse.
The report was bullsh**t, she lies and contradicts herself throughout, she states my son sat comfortably not showing signs of stress or fatigue. He was shattered having not slept for over 24 hours, stressing out over the assessment. She states he interacted well and spoke clearly, we recorded it and you can barely hear him speak under his breath. But as we shouldn’t have recorded we can’t use that as proof, can we???
she states he copes well with everything and can manage very well. He has anxiety attacks just going into a shop or walking past someone in the street. But as she ignored me and wrote nothing of what I said all the truth was not written.
As I said we are still waiting the decision as the case manager asked capita regarding a query, obviously as I put in my complaint at not being able to speak being his appointee. Anyway I’m not expecting his decision to be good, I’ve no doubt got a fight on my hands, but he’s suffered with this many years and claimed pip for 5 years, what is it, oh he’s reached adulthood so he’s better??? He’s as bad as ever, if not worse as if they stop his money he will have no car as the pip covers his insurance and that’s the only way he will visit friends, so it will make him housebound. Anyway , I will get back to you all about the decision ASAP. It should arrive any day now x
