Hi I'm Lydia and I'm 26 years old. I am partially deaf. As a child I had very many developmental problems. I walked on my toes and I still do. I had very bad balance problems as a young child I struggled to walk in a straight line with one foot in front of the other hadand I never learnt to ride a bike and struggle with hand eye coordination. I have a lisp but this is largely down to the hearing loss. And I was behind in every subject in school and had a very short attention span. When I was younger I saw a few specialist such as physiotherapy. My hearing loss was diagnosed when I was 8 years old and after that everything else was blamed on it. They finally had an excuse for all my problems. But it doesn't explain the balance problems and stiff legs that caused my tiptoe walking. I met someone recently with mild cerebral palsy who had similar problems to me. I'm just wondering if it's worth getting this checked out or am I too old now, I've lived my life thinking there was nothing wrong I cought up a bit academically eventually and have a decent job. But I still struggle allot.

Hi Lydia - If you have medical concerns, then it's perfectly reasonable to mention these to your GP, who should be able to give you an appropriate referral to find out more.

Hi @lyds
Thanks for posting and a very warm welcome to the community.
What you describe could be CP but not necessarily so. I would recommend that you speak to your G.P. about your concerns. Your age will have no bearing whatsoever.
Keep in touch.

Hi @lyds.
I was late to walk and my foot turned in. When I did walk they noticed me left heel was in the air and walked on toes. They cut down the back of my left leg and added an extra length to the Achilles tendon so my heel could go down to the floor. When I reached my mid thirties I needed a rise under my left shoe. But as I got older in mid 50's to now age 62 I sometimes walk on front foot in bear feet so my slippers have a raise also. It seems left leg is shorter and have drop foot and medical notes states I have infant cp which I didn't know until my late 50's. But looks like your two legs are the same length.
Maybe chat to your doctor so they can determine what it is. All the best.
