What is your favourite classic film?

This morning we were talking about all of the classic 80's films that we used to watch. But what do you think?

For me, it has to be E.T. as I find the film funny, sad and homely. There is just something about it that I love. I have probably watched it 100+ times!

    Yes I have been watching many films on my pc. 

    Anything (Horror) work's great on my (Distraction Therpy) for my "Chronic Pain"

    Yes I'm experiencing major problems with the 'quality' off the on 'screen pictures'

    I can currently get 'HD 1080' with my new pc build going much higher hopefully.

    Some classic favourite films of mine are Gone With The Wind, Wuthering Heights, Calamity Jane and The Wizard of Oz.  Like @thespiceman, I love all the golden oldies!  I also love Born Free and watch it whenever it comes on tv and I always have a good bubble at the end, lol!  :smiley:

    My favourite film is 'Awakenings' from 1990 based on neurologist Oliver Sack's non-fiction book. His books are eminently readable & fascinating.
    Others include 'The Sting' 1973, as I also like Scott Joplin's music, & 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid' from 1969....you might guess I also rather like Paul Newman!
    Then there's '2001 A Space Odyssey' with Richard Strauss's moving 'Also sprach Zarathustra' music.
    From the 1980's definitely 'ET' & 'Dirty Dancing,' & 'Short Circuit,' also 'Dead Poets Society,' 'Gremlins' & 'The Karate Kid.'
    Older films, I'm a James Stewart fan, so 'Rear Window,' Harvey' & 'Shenandoah' especially.
    @steve51- have you considered, if it's plausible, connecting your PC to your TV....this is what I do with my desktop computer.

    I’m 26 so classics for me are mostly from the 90s and 00s. I prefer older films though, not keen on new films myself.

    Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
    Snatch

    Gladiator

    Saving Private Ryan
    Full Metal Jacket
    Black Hawk Down

    All the older James Bond films

    The Princess Bride and I also love LadyHawke.

    Classic films I love that aren't 80's Funny Face, The Sound of Musiic, Rebecca, Funny Girl.

    Good choice, I actually just finished watching E.T earlier today and then saw this post! I haven't seen it for over 15 years.

    For the 80's it is a tough one, there more for me to pick from in this decade than up until now. However if I had to narrow it down to one, it would have to be Ghostbusters.

    It mixed so well being funny and scary, with great ghosts/special effects. Being young I became a huge fan, I watched it not long before the cartoon The Real Ghostbusters came out which I liked.
