Just had my P.I.P  assessment and have lost my mobility allowance I am in constant pain when I walk and told the assessor about all my problems.
I can only walk up to 20 yards in pain and lucky for me my car was about 15 yards the assessor watched me and noted I can only walk very slowly but got to my car so in her opinion I  can walk 50 to 200 hundred yards.
I contacted the DWP and asked for a mandatory reconsideration and I told them I would send in the medical reports about my condition they said they would send out the form to fill in and to send it back with my evidence total lie .
I got my hospital reports in 3 weeks still no form rang DWP and told them I had my evidence and was still waiting for their form .
Clerk said they were not going to overturn the decision and I had to appeal.

Hi @1footinthegrave and welcome to the Community.  It is nice to meet you and thank you for sharing with us.  I'm really sorry to hear that this has happened to you and know how frustrating PIP can be, as many of our members also do and will relate to your experience.  This seems very unfair and I hope you get things sorted out.  Scope has some info re PIP and here is the link if you would like to take a look,

Some of our members are very experienced with PIP along with our Community Team and will be able to advise you I'm sure.  I wish you well with it and please keep in touch and let us know how you get on.  All the best.

Hi @1footinthegrave and a very warm welcome to the community. I'm sorry to hear this, I know it cannot be easy! Did you ever fill out an MR form or are you now onto the second tier of appeal?

I got marked down for mobility because I can drive, even though the assessor only saw me walk 15m in the assessment centre...absolutely ridiculous that people are getting marked down for being able to drive..seems to be happening a lot with DLA to PIP cases

My experience with DLA to PIP was that I got enhanced mobility having had only lower rate mobility for 17 years on DLA, so its not always bad news.

Well done in gaining higher PIP award woodbine, maybe if you applied for higher award for DLA award earlier on you would have probably been successful,

On a lighter note I used to smoke woodbine cigarettes and would remove a couple of them from packet and place on top of mantlepiece above fire so they would bake and taste stronger when smoking and even now years later can still taste and smell woodbine cigarettes.:#

Sorry to hear you got turned down and have to appeal. Have you got your medical records, they may help? Send in as much evidence as you can. Letters from doctors, specialists, therapist. When submitting the appeal, tackling each descriptor that you don't agree with and the reasons why, giving examples may help with getting your medical conditions across and how they affect your life. My mum helped me. The CAB might be able to help. Do you have an occupational therapist or CPN that can help you with the appeal? The CAB may be able to assign a benefits case worker to your case and prepare written representation for you. This can be done once you get a Tribunal date. The bundle that the tribunal send you can be copied, scanned and sent over. I had a person who works with vulnerable people get in touch with the CAB,not the CAB near me,a larger CAB and they sent a consent form and I signed it and posted it back. That was in April. In July they assigned a benefits case worker. They had got copies of my evidence from the Tribunal people and are working on looking at it and the descriptors to see which ones need to be raised and taken into consideration. Good luck.
