Living in new area due to moving to get away from abusive ex-husband so nobody local to ask. Are there any charities who may have someone to act as a friend to witness for me?
-
I'm sorry to hear you're going through the difficulties, May I suggest giving the team a call and see if they are able to advise or I am sure one of the other community champions may be able to jump in on this thanks Tom

As advised on your other thread, you won't need a witness for the assessment. It will just be for some company on the day, which can help with anxiety. I'm not even sure to be honest if advice agencies go with people to assessments because of lack of funding but you can try.This link will help you find what advice agency is local to you. https://advicelocal.uk/
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help. -

If I was you I would try and take someone with you as some hcp's like to lie and say things you carried out tasks you did not carry out. I have witnessed this on many occasions. Also get their name and request the assessment report from the DWP afterwards.Hi and welcome,I'm one of the community champions here on scope and i'm here to help and advise others.I would also like to point out that not all HCP's are bad and they don't all lie. I've had 3 work capability assessments and 4 PIP assessments and have yet to receive a bad report for any of them.During my last work capability assessment the HCP that i seen escorted me to and from the room, let me hold onto her arm and held the door open for me, she also told me several times to take my time because there was no rush. I have mobility problems and walking is very difficult for me. I must admit she was a very nice person. When i received the report about 10 days later everything she put was exactly how it was.Remember we only ever read the bad stories and never the good ones.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help. -
It's only natural that on an internet forum you will mostly only hear the bad stories, which is why you assume that the nice ones are few and far between. Lots of people successfully claim without any problems at all but they don't come onto a forum and tell their story because they successfully claimed because they have no questions to ask, so we don't hear their story.A public forum is the worst place for someone to go to when they are claiming a benefit because of all the bad stories. The only thing this does is stress them more and make them even worse than they already are.I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

@Momamoo
Maybe ask at local CAB because my ex-counsellor said I could get someone from Social Prescribing to go with me, but dont know if that's right...
(I'm going on my own so as dont have two people to deal with, but that's me).
I've got high anxiety at the mo and dreading mine.
I'm not sure but believe you are allowed to record the interview if you have the kit to do it... @poppy123456 will know I think.
CAB always my second port of call for help and advice, after this forum.
Wish you Good Luck, we're in this together. -
Hi
A questionnaire came for me on Wednesday to fill out which I have and I sent it back Thursday, hope I don’t have to wait too long to hear back from DWP with a decision, and also hopefully I won’t need to have an assessment -

Mose people have face to face assessment so i'd advise you to expect one of those.

My contact at Women's Aid is coming with me. Nervous but I did come out of my PIP assessment better off than when I was on DLA so fingers crossed, do think witness helps. Thanks for the useful comments
