Hello Darren @Darren79 and welcome to the community. Good to have you with us.
I'm no expert on ESA, I'm afraid, but we have people here who will be able to help you, including experts and members who have very similar experiences to your own.
Bear with us, if you can, and people will get back to you. And if you've heard nothing constructive by - say - the end of Monday, reply to me using the tag @JennysDad and I will try to chivvy things along a little bit.

Stay in touch, Darren.

Hi trying to find out why my esa has gone clerical and will that delay my sdp

Hi @Darren79, and a warm welcome to the community!
I'm unsure of this myself, but wonder if this is something @Gill_Scope can help with? -
Hi there Darren 79
I think it's just a computer error that makes DWP staff make a claim clerical. It means that they can't put it onto the computer, so they calculate what should be paid on paper and then pay you that. The problem with this nowadays is that the paperwork is held in one place and isn't viewable by other people who pick the phone up to you.
Ask the next person you speak to about this if they know if it will be possible to put your claim back online and if so, when. Meanwhile, you will have to keep phoning to ask for a progress report about your SDP, and may not get straight answers. (Asking a benefits adviser locally or your MP to intervene might be options if this goes on too long)..
Good Luck.

Hi, exactly the same thing happened to my husband, it was explained that when a file gets too large on their old system, the computer isn't able to process the payments. He has had to phone on the last 3 payment dates for a payment as the internal communication requesting that his claim be rebuilt doesn't seem to have been picked up. I have phoned them again this morning due to another missed payment and instead of issuing the payment and sending yet another internal request to get his claim online, they have put through a request for a different department to call me back to rebuild the claim and issue the payment. It's very frustrating. Hope you are sorted, I'll update you when I've had the call back.

Do you have an update on what happened in this claim I’m now going through the exact same issue
