Memory loss

Hi, I'm 36 and have very mild CP caused by a brain injury when I was born. I have always had a pretty poor memory but laughed it off and only recently wondered if it's linked
It's really starting to bother me now as I'm not sure if it's getting worse. I don't recall most of my childhood and ask me what I did more than a few weeks ago and I'd really struggle to tell you.
I wondered whether anyone else experienced the same, if I can get it checked out etc? I've looked at memory clinics but they seem focused on dementia. Any suggestions or input appreciated. Thanks

Just thought I’d add something, having had brain injuries in the past and trying to cope with CFS/ME in the present.
I can relate to how you’re feeling.
Tried mindfulness, deep breathing and audiobooks but had trouble getting anything from this.
It wasn’t until I started playing a game of strategy... Chess!
playing music in the background with a relative.

Sounds silly, I know... Not having played this in what seems forever, my mind has slowly been able to pick up the odd thread of my childhood.
Chess maybe not the answer for you, but I truly believe that any simple game of strategy that you can play with someone else could help you as it does for me.

started meditation twice a day, which helps to unscramble the noise in my mind.

I have mild/moderate CP and my memory has always been poor, also processing information. I believe this can be linked to CP, but if you are concerned then please do seek guidance from your GP.

Here is some information that looks at cerebral palsy and cognition, with this illustrating how memory is a small part of this. I hope you find this helpful.

It's good to meet you. There are lots of things that can have an effect on our memory. Tiredness, stress, lifestyle etc. However, some people living with CP do have issues around memory, information processing and spatial awareness. As no two people living with CP are affected in the same way it is difficult to say with certainty that this is a secondary impairment of CP.
I would encourage you to speak with your G.P.
