Decision timescale in Northern Ireland

I had my PIP assessment carried out at my home 3 weeks ago, they said it would take 8 - 10 weeks to get decision, just wondering is this the norm or do they just tell us this so we don't keep calling them? Also, do they text when a decision is made?

    HI and welcome.

There's no timescales for any decision. Backlogs are just part of the reason a decision can be delayed. Once it's made they will send a decision letter to you. Hopefully not too much longer.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

First time claimed on 2018. Decision arrived next week after PIP Assessment (Not awarded PIP).

Second time put claim last year. PIP Assessment was on 29.01.2020 still awaiting for decision (5 weeks).
