Shopping Hours for Vulnerable Customers

Hi 
The hours for vulnerable shoppers are:

Tesco 9 am to 10 am 

Sainsbury's 8 am t0 9 am (23rd customers over the age of 70 and or disability will have priority online slots)

Aldi No specific times

Lidl No specific times

Asda Urging the general population not to shop until 9 am

Morrison's 9 am and 10 am Monday to Saturday where vulnerable people will be given more assistance in-store.

Marks & Spencer 8 am to 9 am every Monday and Thursday

Waitrose 8 am to 9 am

Iceland 8 am to 9 am

    This all very well for the fit and able but most of us won’t be able to get to the shops for 0800hrs or public transportation is not convenient to these times we can’t use our bus pass till after 0900hrs. What about those supermarkets which are open 24 hours.

    Supermarkets are no longer open 24 hours because that stopped quite a few days ago.

    However, the hours for shopping for vulnerable people doesn't really make sense when those most vulnerable have been advised not to go out at all for at least 12 weeks.
    I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying.
    If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help.

    Online shop is the best option if possible to get a delivery slot

    I called my local Morrisons to double check and they said they aren’t opening in the mornings for vulnerable people because that would mean they would not be distancing in queues. Apparently this is the same for all Morrisons but I only have her word for that. I would call to check in advance before turning up

    I went to aldi today at 12.20pm and, as i thought, stocks were better than i had previously seen. Loo roll!!!!! Tons of it. Soap.

    Loads of fresh fruit and veg. No frozen at all but plenty to make a meal out of.

    100% agree with wilko, seems bonkers.

    What they need to be doing is sorting out the delivery crisis.

    I fear they going to try and classify as priority by diagnosis only (using the covid vulnerable group), which is a dangerous game to play. As diagnosis is a very unreliable way of determining who is able and who isnt.

    If you can get to the shop at all, go later in the day. Lots of stuff left now the lockdown is on and social distancing measures should be tighter to prevent bunching up and pushing and shoving


    There are lots of volunteer groups now up and down the uk who are bringing shopping to people unable to get out

    I cant get to a shop, else I wouldnt be as concerned.

    How do I get in touch with these volunteer groups?  I am also happy to pay them.

    I am in Scotland @worried33 so dont know what is in your area. I had a leaflet pushed through my door today with the contact details of the group that has set up in my area.

    I should think there is something similar in every village, town and  city throughout  the uk by now. Google the name of your location plus 'shopping help coronovirus' and hopefully it will turn something up. 

    Im guessing, since you cant get to a shop, that you had carers coming in before this crisis hit?

    Did they not set you up with an emergency phone number. If you are in a small town or village, the post office or village shop will know. Phone them.

    In a large town or city, im not too sure but hopefully someone else can help out here?

    Looks like Facebook is the way to get in touch! Sorry, not being on Facebook myself, it is the last place i would have thought of. Im sure someone can help put you in touch with your local group.

    I have had carers in the past but dont need them now, I am able to care for myself ok most days, my issue in this case is my lack of outdoor mobility.

    I dont have a scooter because my property isnt suitable, council apparently have determined I dont meet their criteria to register for a property, so that will remain the case, and I live alone so no other member of the household to do stuff for me.
