Hi we got our son who is an adult and a non-dependent living with us, he normally works, but can not at the moment, universal credit knows about him and his wages, we are on universal credit for disability, my question is, will it affect our universal credit, will it be reduced and will he be forced to make a contribution to us out of his claim, if he claims because he lost his job due to coronavirus? We are also in receipt of PIP and have bedroom exemption because of this.

Good morning @freeflow. I’m sorry your son is unable to work at the moment.

No, if he submits a claim to UC it won’t affect yours.

Because you are in receipt of PIP there is no non-dependent deduction.

Hello @freeflow. That's correct. Your son is classed as a non-dependent so normally there would be a £75.15 deduction to your housing element but because you are in receipt of PIP these do not apply.
Your money will not reduce because of your sons.
