Will I be automatically transferred on to my state pension?

I’m in the esa support group & in December I will reach retirement age I understand that my esa will stop being paid so will I be automatically transferred on to my state pension & will I get extra amount due to my needs - thanks

Hi @sochelle63 - Welcome to the community. You will get a letter before your state pension age with details how to claim by phone or post. You have to claim it; it's not automatic. As you say, your ESA will stop, as you will get the New State pension instead. Please see: https://www.gov.uk/new-state-pensionIf you have a disability, you may be eligible for the Personal Independence Payment (PIP). You would need to claim before reaching state pension age. If awarded this, then it will continue after you reach state pension age. If you're not awarded the mobility component, you can't claim this for the first time after reaching state pension age, nor can it increase from the standard to the higher rate. If you have been awarded one of the mobility rates, then this will continue after state pension age.
