The Paralympics – Digital Explorations: June 2020-Dec 2023

3D Photography Training and Work Programme - Participant Brief

Are you disabled and interested in technology, keen to learn new skills and live in Buckinghamshire?

 This is an exciting opportunity to be trained, for free, in 3D photography in a sports heritage setting to work with the National Paralympic Heritage Trust in creating an online virtual gallery.

About the National Paralympic Heritage Trust: The National Paralympic Heritage Trust (NPHT) are mapping, conserving and making accessible to national audiences, collections and archives relating to the British Paralympic story. In 2019 the NPHT opened a permanent Heritage Centre at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, the Birthplace of the Paralympic Movement, and are delivering temporary national exhibitions and a virtual museum. The main Trust partners are the British Paralympic Association (BPA), WheelPower and Buckinghamshire Council (BC).

About the Digital Explorations 2020-23: This project, funded by the Rothschild Foundation, Heritage Lottery Fund and the NPHT will see a group of participants trained in the use of 3D photography, sports journalism and history research. For those wanting to take it further there will be the opportunity to deliver this training in schools workshops in a paid capacity. This work will play an important role in the building of digital resources for worldwide access to the work of the NPHT.

Project Outcomes: Alongside a pool of skilled 3D museum photographers the Project will create an online 3D gallery of collections for the NPHT website and a series of collection e-books.

About the Participant Role: The role of the participant will be to attend a series of training and support sessions, and once trained, if desired, to lead or support a number of  workshops (for which you would be paid at £15 an hour). No prior experience is required, just a keenness to learn.

Indemnity: Insurance is covered by the NPHT.

Skills and Qualifications: A basic level of IT

How to register interest: If you would like to be involved in this project please complete and return the expression of interest form by the 30th June 2020. Download the details at https://www.paralympicheritage.org.uk/digital-explorations-project or contact us at admin@paralympicheritage.org.uk for an alternative format.

    Hi @paralympicheritage - Welcome, & thank you for sharing this; it looks very interesting. I wish my daughter's family lived nearer, as my middle granddaughter is hoping to study photography at college. Will you do any online tutorials later?

    @Adrian_Scope @Ronni
    We called the scope helpline to ask for advice on how we can promote this opportunity. We were advised by the lady we spoke to to advertise it here and send a confirmation email to community@spoke.org.uk which we have done. If there are other avenues that
    we can use please do let us know and we can do this.
