Doctor recommendations

Hello.

I was born with open defect spina bifida and have mild endo too. I need to find a urologist for myself. Where and how do I find one? I am willing to travel up to London or Kent to see a urologist at a hospital. My last urologist has now retired and left the UK unfortunately. I also need to find a reputable qualified trustworthy gynaecologist as well. This happens every month for several days nonstop. Today I woke up to bad thigh pain and constipation. That was the start of it really. Tomorrow morning I will email my family doctor to ask for a referral.

During the lockdown I have suffered bad bouts of constipation, and pain. The pain is in my thighs, lower back and pelvis. If anyone has any doctor recommendations, that would be great thanks in advance. I also have a few other health issues which are primarily spina bifida related in addition namely an asymptomatic Chiari II, neurogenic bladder, and reduced mobility/sensation in my legs. I have a L5/S1 lesion a neurosurgeon told me once at a appointment. When I was a child, I had the clubbed feet repair operation done. I also had casts as a baby and was even closely monitored by a urology specialist. So this is my life story summed up in a nutshell.

Hi Sorry to hear about your issues I am confused as to why you need to find a specialist yourself surely this should be down to your GP to refer and recommend one.

Do you not have a consultant you see on a regular basis regarding your spina bifida maybe they can help.

O ther than that you would have to search for recommended specialists maybe on the NHS website or on another site

Sorry I am not of much help Im just amazed in this day and age it is uo to you to find these specialists yourself

    Hi @janer1967.
No I don't. My amazing lovely orthopedist is based at a local hospital downtown within walking distance. I just picked the first GP I could find within driving distance of my apartment based on nothing. I am in the process of switching actually. My new one will be located downtown at a surgery. I am in the process of finding new specialists for my partner online as well. I have heard a lot of good feedback about private doctors in this country too. I will search online.

Good! The new one is amazing. She called me up late this afternoon to discuss a urgent referral to a arm specialist and antibiotics too. She is also going to refer me to a therapist. My medication will be ready tomorrow.

I'm really glad it went well @christian96! It sounds like you're in good hands. I hope the medication helps and you don't have to wait too long for the referral. :)
