why bother to carry it in the first place, don't think it will catch on somehow

This probably will work in Japan where space is at a premium and people are respectful.
In the UK someone would puncture it for a laugh the first time you used it. -
Not very suitable for somebody who cant walk or has other disabilities stopping them inflating it more liuke the headline says an inflatable electric bike
