    That reminds me of a military one, I think it’s from the SAS

    The 5 Ps - Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance

    I believe it is actually the 6 Ps but the 6th word is rude.

    Also another military one I like, it was used as early as WW2 I believe

    Or looking after your pennys and they will turn into pounds?

    Look after your pennies and they will turn Into pounds.

    I always knew it as: look after the pennies, the pounds take care of themselves.

    Yours could well be the correct one though. I guess the beauty of these sayings is that they evolve and maybe are slightly different in different areas.

    @66Mustang

    You are quite right about how sayings change. It rather like jokes change from person to person as they are spread around
    Some of the sayings I post may not be quite correct. It all comes down to how we remember them.

    @Parrot123

    Do you know the Scottish expression “I mind that”?

    My Scottish friend says it a lot and it has a different meaning to something that bothers you. My friend says it when they mean that they remember something?

    I’m not a sir?

    However, I know a lot of Scottish words. My friend used to call me “hen” and someone else thought they were actually calling me a hen?

    What time do you call this!? ( meaning your late)
    (I had a boss say that to me one day and I said “I call this early for tomorrow as I wasn’t coming in today.” He was confused...)
