HI and welcome,EHCP's are for those up to the age of 25. If you are of this age then getting one isn't easy at all. Some information here.https://www.goodschoolsguide.co.uk/special-educational-needs/legal/getting-an-ehcp You can't just get one because you think you need one, that's not how these work unfortunately. You can still do a part time college course without this.
I would appreciate it if members wouldn't tag me please. I have all notifcations turned off and wouldn't want a member thinking i'm being rude by not replying. If i see a question that i know the answer to i will try my best to help. -
Hello and welcome to the community @sdyates It's great to have you here.
I've moved your post into the Education and Learning category so that you're more likely to get some targeted advice.
This article on the Child Law Advice Website has some useful information about what an EHCP is, and what is counted under the title of Special Educational Needs, just in case you need it.
I'm sure someone else will know more about the subject, but I imagine your best bet would be to speak a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo). Are you currently in education? -
Hi and welcome to the community and I hope the advice given is useful for you
Look forward to seeing you around -
@sdyates just to say hello from me too!
Well done you for wanting to do a part-time college course! Don't worry too much about an EHCP as colleges have to provide reasonable adjustments for all disabled students by law, for more information read this Disability Rights UK 'Adjustments for disabled students' webpage.
It might be worth getting in touch with the college you would like to attend, and speaking with their disability support service to see what they could provide to help you.
