Should GPs now be seeing patients face to face if the patient requests a consultation?

Our GPs have been told they should be seeing patients but it is still almost impossible to be seen.

What do others think of this?

Do you think many illnesses are being missed?

Good point I dont know if mine are but I cant see why they shouldn't be if people are back at work and schools open and other services like opticians are all operating why not gp

On the 18th Sept I spoke to my GP 50 minutes later i was sat in front of him 8 days later i was sat in front of the specialist, they thought a mole that had turned odd might be cancer, relieved to say that the specialist is 99% certain it isn't but it will be removed and tested.
Thats twice in recent weeks I have seen my GP on the other occasion i was in front of a consultant within hours (thats another long story i won't bore anyone with)
I do think that the triage system that many GPs are operating works well and should continue long after CV19 is history, far too many people clog up the NHS when there is no need
I might add that despite my many illnesses I rarely see a GP I know people who are fitter healthier and younger than me who never seem to be a way from theirs.

@woodbine I agree mostly with what you say but there are times when a telephone consult just doesn't cut it.  I had badly swollen feet and ankles and it has caused problems with my arthritis and legs too.  I was given water tablets which have at least allowed me to get shoes on again.  I still think a personal consult would be better to diagnose the problems with my legs which feell like I am trying to lift concrete.

Very good point @roberttaylor570! Also, a lot of clinics have been closed.
