Loads of fireworks going off tonight.
I may be being incredibly dense here but what is special about tonight that I don’t know about...?
- It’s a regular Thursday night.
- Halloween is on a Saturday so no reason to do it today
- There is still a Friday (tomorrow) and a weekend before bonfire night so again a weird choice of day to set them off today

As far as I can tell it’s a regular Thursday, not even a bank holiday or anything. I don’t dislike fireworks, just wondering...
Can anyone enlighten me?

Apologies if there is some kind of religious festival that I may have forgotten about.

Are there any going off near you or is it just me?

We’ve heard a few, but it happens every year.

They seem to start letting them off as soon as they go on sale, but you have to wonder seeing the price of the things !2024 The year of the general election...the time for change is coming 💡

I have never noticed them being set off this early. Maybe one or two but there were loads last night!

How close are you to Nottingham? I've heard there were a lot of parties there last night before they went into tier 3 lockdown today.
Didn't hear any at all near me... I have seen a surprising number of houses decorated for Halloween though...didn't think it'd go ahead this year. It'll only take one person with Covid handing out sweets to kids that will bring down an entire housing estate! -

As my son-in-law would say " a bunch of ejits "

I believe it was Mawlid yesterday, which some Muslims celebrate, so it could have been that. I imagine it was either that, or some early bonfire night celebrations!

Across the street where I live there is a park and we have heard fireworks every night for the past two weeks now. Even heard them at 5am. No idea if there are festivals. But it gets annoying. Back in the day we only let them off on the appropriate night. Still 6 days away.
