Ive just had a planned medical phone call but as usual i have anxiety overload. I find any medical exchange difficult even with the best health professionals.
Im going over it and over it..i will have a sleepless night and yet there is no reason..its just having to access anything medical.ive known about the appt for 2 weeks the outcome was predicted just a change of medication dose.
I have another routine appointment tomorrow for something different ..i will be the same

Have you tried a little meditation? It would help a lot I feel.
You might also try phoning a friend, try cheering them up, sometimes that helps us shift our focus away from ourselves.

@Eliz31abeth, no problem feel free to talk to me, I have a habit of overthinking things which stresses me out so it’s nice to see someone else is the same. It’s not trivia, I always have to have someone with me when I do anything medical.

As the other have said, it's not trivial at all @Eliz31abeth :) I think we can all be prone to a bit of overthinking, and it can be hard to break out of that cycle. Meditation and distracting yourself are both great options, along with herbal remedies if that's your thing.

I definitely find distraction the most useful personally. Try and really throw yourself into something, even if it's speaking to a friend as LeeCal suggested, watching a good film, doing some exercise, or working on a fun little project.

Did you try any of the grounding techniques that were suggested to you previously?

Thank you. I would be the first to support someone else with this but not myself! Its crazy!

That's okay, I find the quoting function a bit tricky to work sometimes too @Eliz31abeth

It's frustrating that they didn't give you a time. Could you have done another, quieter activity? Or sat in the garden with a mobile phone if you have one?

Do you think the headache could be to do with the anxiety of waiting for the call? I get the same thing of not realising how worried I am about something until afterwards.

We have a poor mobile area no signal most of time and if landline is off the base too long it needs charging. The headache which the call was about  im sure is worsened by stress ..
Sorry i sound like i have an excuse for everything..but to put in context anything to do with medical..prescriptions ..appointments..letters im the same. Just trying out talking to you and the community to see if it will help diffuse it

Ahh I see, that's frustrating @Eliz31abeth. I suppose the weather is a bit cold to be sat outside without walking around at the moment anyway :D

You don't sound like you have an excuse for everything at all. Of course, you're more than welcome to do that. It can be easier to type things to strangers, I get it!

Do you have a time-frame for the phone call you've got tomorrow?

    Hi tori
Tomorrow is a medical examination which will remind me of what happened to cause PTSD. I have a plan to not " engage" and get too involved mentally just let them do their job and use brief sentences . My Dr rang them last year to tell them not to ask me too many things just read my notes. Fingers crossed.Afterwards a winters walk with my DH

I'm glad that your doctor has already rung to explain the situation @Eliz31abeth :) Hopefully it'll all go well.

A winter walk sounds lovely! And should help you to take your mind off of things.

    Thank you.
Its over for another year! Nurse very good did the examination and although she looked at my wound she moved swiftly on without comment.. exactly what i wanted.
I think tori mentioned distraction..so i planned after a winter walk with DH in the rain and a hot flask..walked to a specialist shop who are struggling ( they opened as a new business in a local tourist spot in march)and bought a xmas present and raffle ticket ..it helped me try and think of others (the charity the struggling business and the person whos gift it was.) My brain is trying to slip into a need to over analyse the appt.. to go over it.. to go through it all ..to feel safe before i can let it go but i know that is PTSD i shall keep busy!
Thanks for letting me air it here it is the most bizarre
    condition
