The Independent: Apple marks International Day of Persons with Disabilities with new accessibility website

Apple has marked the International Day of Persons with Disabilities with a new, devoted site and by drawing interest to a range of features in its devices.
The new accessibility site is aimed at allowing people to “learn about ways to personalise their Apple products to work the way they want”, Apple said.
It draws attention to a range of features in its iPhone and other devices that might go unnoticed.
It notes that the website and the tools that it highlights are intended as “a helpful resource for anyone — whether they identify as having a disability or not”.
Some of these features include:
  • Taking a selfie with voice control
  • Using the magnifier tool
  • Get your iPhone or iPad to read text to you
  • A 'back tap' feature that allows you to knock on the back of your phone to get it to perform a number of actions
Apple also have a YouTube playlist on the accessible features available, and how to use them.

Here's one of the videos, demonstrating how you can take a self with voice control. I look forward to seeing your shiny new profile pictures! :D

Were you aware of these features? Will you be using any of them? Do you think other companies should follow suit?
