My son has just turned 3 and has cerebral palsy. Mainly affecting the legs. He was always a good sleeper until a few months ago and now it’s so hard to get him to sleep in the first place and then he’s awake again at 2/3am. I am also heavily pregnant and it is very tiring.
I have recently cut out his day time naps but not seeing any improvement as of yet.
Any advice would be greatly received.

Hello @moollymatHello @MollyMatthews and welcome to the community, how are you?

I have moved your discussion over to our CP category so that we can hopefully get you the advice you deserve. It's a shame to read that your son is having difficulty with sleep, I imagine it is very draining, as you say.

Are you currently receiving support from your child's GP to help manage his CP?

    Hi @MollyMatthews
Toddlers and bedtime it's a joy, isn't it?
You have done the right thing by cutting out nap time. Try to put in place a relaxing bedtime routine. a new warm bath, story etc. Try not to let him become too overstimulated before bed.
We have a Sleep Right service that has online help or face to face (pre-covid) if you live in London, Leeds, Peterborough or Northamptonshire.

    Hi @MollyMatthews
How are you? Welcome to the community and thank you for joining us. I'm sorry to hear that your son is having difficulty sleeping at night, toddlers often go through phases such as this. Ensuring that your son has a nice, relaxed routine in place, which is consistent, will help and you have done the right thing in cutting out the afternoon nap. Please may I ask, has anything changed in recent months which may have caused him to be a little more unsettled? I hope that you are able to receive support and advice with this and things improve for you both. I would also like to wish you well with your pregnancy. Please, any questions you have, do ask as we are a friendly and supportive community and we are here to support you. Thank you.
