@WestHam06 I’m glad to hear you are OK! I’m not too bad either thank you but struggling a bit with not being able to go out for a drive, apart from that though, everything is as usual. :)

I'm sorry to hear that you are struggling with not being able to go out for a drive :( I imagine that must be very frustrating, let's hope it won't be too long, though I do appreciate it's difficult to tell how long we are going to be in lockdown. Please, if you would like to talk, just ask, maybe you could educate me about cars, I'm not very knowledgeable about them :) Thank you.

Thanks for the supportive post @WestHam06 :) it’s kind of you to offer to listen if I need to talk.

Is driving something you are interested in doing at some point, or do your issues prohibit this?

I'm gutted that my team Stockport County got knocked out of the FA cup by a team 86 places above them, west ham who got the winner on 83 minutes, doubly gutted as my late mum had followed them since the early 50's. I know its only football but I was in tears at full time, so near yet so far.

No problem @66Mustang :) Yes, driving is something I am interested in doing. I have had a medical test and though they said I am natural driver in terms of my understanding of the laws and what needs doing when, my body doesn't react as quickly as is needed for driving. There are adaptations that I could try but there is still no guarantee that these would support me to the extent as to make it safe for me to drive. These adaptations cost and so I am busy saving :) Also, I have been very poorly over the last couple of years and so it is on my list of things to try to achieve but other things have taken priority. Please may I ask, how long have you been driving? Thank you.

    Hi @woodbine
I hope you are doing ok, it's always difficult when we experience events which bring memories to the forefront, sending my condolences for your loss and best wishes.  All I will say, as a West Ham fan, Stockport played well and everyone associated with the club should be very proud. We fielded a strong team and brought on substitutes who play in our first team and were being rested, it was a tough game and I salute your team for making it difficult for a team, as you say, are 86 places above you. Thank you.

@WestHam06 that’s great that the doctor thinks you are a natural driver :) but I understand what you mean about body reactions. It also makes sense about other things having priority.

Do you mind if I ask, are you claiming PIP - enhanced mobility? As if you are you can get help with the cost of driving lessons and with any adaptations that are needed for your vehicle.

I have been driving for 4 years. I started a bit late, when I was 23.

Oh wow, 4 years that's great @66Mustang I never think of things as being late, I just see it as you doing things when you feel you are ready too :)  I understand the absolute need to be safe as it's not just for other drivers but it is also for any passengers I would have and myself. I take that really seriously and although I am very determined to achieve this goal, I absolutely agree and accept safety must come first. I don't receive PIP but I am aware of a similar scheme in relation to DLA but thank you so much for sharing this with me. Thank you.
