If we sign and spread the word, they may take notice. The unlimited blank cheque billions will be sloshing around, and social care and respite and disability aids and special schools can all point out where it should be spent.

I never sign petitions as most like this one are a waste of time, it will need 100,000 signatures before it is even considered for a debate in Parliament, and that's unlikely to happen for something that has been given the green light and where work has already commenced.
And can you imagine the number of skilled well paid jobs that HS2 will provide?
Yes it's possible we could use the money elsewhere, but the argument has been lost now.2024 The year of the general election...the time for change is coming 💡 -
Err....I think the number has been quickly reached, but an overwhelming number will get more serious attention than otherwise. Err......Paying a thousand pounds an hour for someone to dig holes and fill them in is 'providing jobs', but it makes better sense than making a rail line nobody wants or needs.

P.S.. the back of envelope cost, per proposed 'highly skilled worker', (these rare creatures having been diverted from something useful,) works out at way over a thousand pounds an hour.

Thank you very much, Worried.
