Now not able to use hands & need a telephone that I can use that is voice activated. I don't have a smartphone, just a normal landline phone....any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Alexa devices can do this, but I think they would need to be set up through a smartphone first.

I think you will need some form of smart device
You can get voice activated apps to use on smart phones or do you have a laptop
If it is to make calls and answer calls you may need smart phone
Will tag in someone who may be able to help @Ross_Scope -
You can set up the Alexa app, but yes it does need some kind of smart phone that can download the app, and then use your Alexa to call people like for example "Alexa, call Mum"

@MrAllen1976 you are correct you need the app to set up the different things on your alexa but with my music I subscribed on alexa but radio stations and things are free

Hmm, yeah I imagine you'd need some sort of smart device @LGD58, but I couldn't be 100% sure. Would you be able to buy one of the cheaper smartphones on the market if needed?

Hi @LGD58 - & welcome to the community. Not having come across this before, I tried looking into it. I did find this: https://livingmadeeasy.org.uk/product/vocally-dialler but was shocked at the price of this Vocally 3, 'only' £190 from here: https://www.jolly-good-idea.co.uk/product/voice-dialler/ neither did it have good reviews on Amazon. However, in the following link it was thought to be good, so hard to judge. Please see: https://www.disabled-world.com/assistivedevices/computer/vocally.phpPerhaps worthwhile looking for a reasonably priced smart phone as mentioned above. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Hello @LGD58how are you? Wishing you a warm welcome to the community.
Thanks for the tag @janer1967
As others have mentioned, the best route here is to have a smartphone and one of the cheaper Alexa or Google Home devices. Once set up, those speakers will be able to call your contacts and local businesses on command of your voice. The only numbers they won't call is the emergency services.
With a landline, I imagine there must be some options out there that are voice activated, have you tried speaking with the company to whom you pay line rental? It may be something they could advise on.
I did find this product on Amazon UK but sadly it isn't currently available, although it does seem to offer what you are looking for.Online Community CoordinatorConcerned about another member's safety or wellbeing? Flag your concerns with us.

Techno ignoramus here. Can a smartphone be set up so it is permanently ready for duty? They used to be dear, but now second hand are pretty cheap, and even new are not as expensive as they once were
