Hi and welcome
No it isnt a bad sign they were must likely just checking you had not sent or sending any further evidence0 -
Ok as I told them some more information on the call that I hadn't sent in with the letter thank you0

Hello @gg55
Welcome to the community, how are you?
Personally I'm not sure if it is a good sign or a bad sign, however I would follow the thoughts of Janer from above.
All the best with the appeal0 -
Oh thank you yeah I just don't know what to think as been so let down with how the assessor put the report back to pip0

Hi @gg55 - & welcome to the community from me too. I'm sorry to read your assessor's report didn't indicate the help you need. Another decision maker will now look at your claim again, which is good. Please kindly let us know how you get on, thank you.

Will do im not holding out much hope as basically I feel really let down by the assessor and just with them phoning today maybe think I still haven't got enough for the points to get the award and thats why they were phoning0

An MR is more likely to succeed if you provide additional information to plug any gaps in the original information. If you haven’t sent anything extra then being asked hopefully means that the decision maker is trying to get a better understanding of the information.0

Oh ok that makes sense thank you I will just have to wait and see0

Has anyone on here won a mandatory reconsideration or not just asking what the chances are really0

Lots of members have won and lots haven't. The success rate is better than it was
Have a look in the PIP section there are lots of related posts in there0 -
There is an online community called ‘Benefits and Work’ (I think that’s the name) which for a small subscription fee provides you with fantastic help. Basically it has loads of material to help you submit your application, MR and further appeal if necessary. I was refused PIP on my three year review even though my condition had worsened. My MR was unsuccessful too. With the superb help this website gave me I won my appeal at an Independent Tribunal, which is the next step. I would thoroughly recommend ‘Benefits and Work’. The figure for appeal success is over 75%! You could also try Citizens Advice but be aware that the good people there are not specialists and when I consulted them they knew less than I did about this process. Good luck, you WILL get there if you persevere!

- the proportion of MR decisions (excluding withdrawn MRs) resulting in a change in award rose sharply between 40% in February 2020 and 44% in March 2020 to 57% in April 2020, reflecting the new operational approach as well as COVID-19 impact
- from May 2020 onwards the trends in proportion of MR decisions (excluding withdrawn MRs) leading to a change in award resumed the patterns pre-COVID – a gradual increase reaching 42% in October 2020
