It’s just another opportunity for commercialisation.

You can let someone know you love and care for them anytime of the year.

I like  valentines day we live in a busy world well we did pre covid  and working and rushing around  sometimes  people forget

This year it means more because thousands of lives have been lost  and the message I had off my partner today meant more this year  because  he is still here ❤ x

When I was young if I didn’t have a girlfriend on Valentine’s Day I’d feel extremely lonely and sad, almost as bad as spending Christmas without a girlfriend in my opinion in those days.

now I’m glad I don’t give a flying banana one way or the other! ???? ...or do I ?

The good thing about Valentines Day is that it means Pancake Day is pretty soon...  :D

@OverlyAnxious it does and what fun pancakes are yum, unfortunately though I have an MOT before that, ooer mr grimsdale, and I’m not looking forward to that at all. It cost me nearly £300 last year, ouch!

Having worked in the greeting card industry for 15 years I'm all in favour of any card sending occasion, you might be amazed at the number of jobs it creates.
Senior management got a card today, and has for the last 40 years, and a silver necklace.
2024 The year of the general election...the time for change is coming 💡

@woodbine I agree   because it celebrates how much you love a person or care about

As you say  creates jobs  just that one day involves alot of different companies and shops

Just an excuse to get more money from the public . If I bought my wife flowers and a card for valentines day , she would be wondering what I,d done ???
I suppose if a young person was just going out with someone and wanted to show how much they cared, it might be a good idea to send a card and flowers ..
it feels like a massive con to get money out people ...a bit like " do you love anyone enough to give them a Christmas eve box " ...and of course someone folks fall for it .
