So the result of my PIP finally came through…

After spending a literal solid week doing research on every single aspect of PIP, the assessment, how my health relates to the PIP indicators, and a very good assessment where I ticked off every box…

I was awarded ZERO POINTS.

It’s extremely frustrating, because I now know the application system like the back of my hand, and received absolutely nothing.

Luckily I have my assessment recorded, where I say such lovely things as “I haven’t prepared a single meal in my life because I am unable do to following the steps and motivating myself due to ADHD. When my partner doesn’t cook for me, I have spent up to £400 a month on takeaways.” which will be the perfect thing to counter their “you said you have trouble preparing a meal. Based on my assessment, I believe you could prepare a simple meal for one.”

And genuinely a whole page more of similar rebuttals for every category.

I even have evidence from my psychiatrist that was sent in using all the correct wording, “Shannon needs assistance to prepare a meal” etc etc and yet absolutely nothing has been taken into account.

I almost feel more comforted that I’ve been awarded zero on everything because it’s so laughable, and I will absolutely walk the tribunal with no issues when it comes around.

I am just so in shock because I genuinely followed every single step correctly, and yet… they’ve written in their decision that because I haven’t been referred to a chronic fatigue clinic (I did not know they even existed) as evidence against my claim; and also the fact I hadn’t seen a specialist, or been to the hospital about my dizziness (does going to A&E at the referral of a doctor count? Genuine question).

It very much seems it’s all been the things I HAVEN’T been seen for that’s been used against me, and no acknowledgement of the medical professionals I have seen.

So frustrated! Very much looking forward to getting a copy of my report.

Hi sorry to hear this and you have scored no points

Bear in mind as you quoted the assessor said they believe you could prepare a meal

That is what the assessors opinion is based on what you said and not factual just their findings . Just because you haven't done something doesnt mean you cant

You can now put in a mr to challenge the decision but dont focus on report but on your reality

Unless you had permission to record the assessment you can only use it for your own reference

    Good luck keep fighting

Well the interesting thing is that on the decision letter, it was signed by a completely different person to the one that did the assessment, which makes it even more funny to read that "Bob Smith concludes you were in good spirits during the assessment" when that most certainly was NOT the person you had the assessment with!

That's because the assessor doesn't make the decisions. The assessor writes a report which is returned to the DWP who are supposed to consider the report alongside all the other evidence submitted. It is the DWP Decision Maker who makes the decision and writes the decision letter.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Rules may be different in other parts of UK.

I'm sorry, but it's a well known fact that the assessors lie, i know personally. The report for my esa had none of the answers i had given, even claimed I was confident talking to people, I'm absolutely NOT confident, i avoid personal contact like the plague. I struggle to converse with anyone i don't know, face to face. Apart from the fact there's been plenty of controversy over the whole assessment system, how many claims are refused only to be given at tribunals. As for evidence, take someone with you, they can't refuse you. Hope things work out for you.
