I'm looking to make new friends. I care for my children, and sometimes I feel that I've lost "me"

I'm Tracy and I live in Staffordshire. I am mum to 3 girls, 2 of which have special needs. Just wanting to say introduce myself and make new friends who understand and can relate to some of the challenges of caring for loved ones specialist needs, its hard work but there a lot of love and I'm so proud of all my girls achievements and how far they've come. My youngest has Angelman syndrome so is quite complex. Sometimes I feel that I've lost "me" with all the caring I do for other people, I know that sounds terrible but hopefully me posting on here someone will understand better. Have a good rest of the day, hope the sun is shining where you are.

Hi and welcome and thanks for sharing with us about your feelings

I can only imagine how hard it must be

There are lots 8f parents here with children with special needs , have a look in our parents and carers section

Do you have any support like a partner or family and friends ?

    Hello @TLowemumto3

Welcome to the community, glad you've joined us :)

I think it's understandable that you sometimes feel as though you're losing yourself, being a carer can be very stressful and time consuming, but I'm delighted to read how proud you are of your kids, it must make it all worth it.

good evening @TLowemumto3 and a warm welcome to scope, it must be very hard for you, but one thing I do know is that our community can and will offer lots of support, so I hope you stick around and ask for any help or advice you think we maybe able to offer.

Welcome to the community @TLowemumto3 :) I can only imagine that it must be an isolating experience at times, and that you don't have much time to yourself. Do you try and make time to take care of yourself every day?

I hope you'll be able to connect with other members here. As mentioned, we have a parents and carers section (which I've moved your post into).

You might also like to take a look at Scope's Parents Connect service, which could help you to meet other people in a similar position.
