April is Jazz Appreciation Month. This year's theme is 'Women's Impact and Contributions in Jazz', and the featured artist is Nina Simone.
Nina Simone has plenty of great songs, and I'd really like to know your favourite. Here's a video of Sinnerman, which is one I particularly enjoy.

I know we have some keen music fans here, so please let us know what you think about jazz in the comments down below. Are you a fan? Who's your favourite jazz musician? Do you have a favourite Nina Simone song?

I hadn't really listened to Nina Simone until a few week's ago, when I stumbled across her version of Leonard Cohen's 'Suzanne,' which I really liked (I'm a big Leonard Cohen fan!)I started listening to Billie Holiday after watching 'Lady Sings the Blues' at the cinema years ago. I couldn't believe how well Diana Ross both sang & acted. Billie Holiday is probably my favourite jazz singer, altho I don't listen to jazz that much, so don't know a lot about it.I enjoyed watching a documentary about Hugh Laurie visiting New Orleans last week & seeing him play with other musicians too.

Is that the 'Let Them Talk' documentary @chiarieds? I think I've seen that.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear it wasn't as good as you might have expected @Username_removed.
You've got some good names in there. I used to play saxophone, and my old music teacher gave me a CD with quite a few classics on. -
The Hugh Laurie documentary @Tori_Scope is as you mentioned - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lJJz4qT1RQ&t=82s

Thanks for the link @chiarieds. I believe I have seen that, but I might re-watch later now I'm in a jazzy mood.
