Is cooing a good sign?

I have a 2 months old son that has been diagnosed with quad cp. How can you tell their cognitive functions are not affected please? My baby started cooing a few days ago.

    This isn't something that I know much about, so I'll tag in our Specialist Information Officer for cerebral palsy here @Richard_Scope.

    From what I've read online, cooing at 2 months would be a positive sign. I'd always recommend that you take your son to see your doctor if you have concerns or questions over your son's development though, as they'll be best placed to help you track milestones and so on.

    Assessing cognitive function at an early age should be done by your paediatrician. Cooing and baby noises are a positive sign and part of the development of your son.
    Do you have regular appointments with a health visitor and paediatrician?

Cooing is a positive sign and a part of the development of babies and young children, however as has already been mentioned, if you have any concerns it is always worth speaking with your GP or paediatrician who will be able to advise in more detail.
