Son turns 16 in July but his DLA doesn't run out until next Jan. When will he need to move to PIP?

Hello my son turns 16 in July 2021 and get Dla but doesn’t run out until jan 2022 how long after he 16 will they send me to apply for pip for him confused

Hello @Fiona198445 - & welcome to the community. Your son will be asked to move onto PIP after his 16th birthday but likely before his DLA claim ends, but there's no knowing as to when that might be, sorry. His DLA will continue to be paid until a decision is made about his PIP claim, & that will usually be made after an assessment.
