Hi I'm asking for some advice please, my neighbours state pension starts from the 10th of may ,today he recieved a letter from housing benefit and council tax telling him his esa has now stopped , and if he still wants to claim housing benefit and council tax, he needs to send proof of id and other info such has 2 months bank statements ect, does he need to do this still ? or will it correct itself with housing benefit and council tax now hes in receipt of his state pension ? Thankyou

I suggest he needs to send the information requested otherwise his HB and CTR will most likely be suspended. If he gets Pension Credit he will have maximum HB and CTR entitlement, if he only gets State Pension and no Pension Credit then HB and CTR will need to be calculated based on his State Pension amount. If he has any private or occupational pensions he will need to declare these.0
