Hi I've been awarded lcwra my first sick note was 19th Jan and ive been told from the 5th of May my claim is awarded. Will I be given any backdated payments can anyone tell me please. I've had a letter telling me if I'm due anything it will be within 7days from the 5th of may

    Hi there 

    There will be no backpay as you have the 3 month waiting period 
    Jan won't count as not full month so Feb Mar and Apr waiting months may first month payable so 1st payment in your june uc payment

    Would you know of the circumstances that you do get backpay as mine is due to mental health and ive been on universal credit for a year but only started with sick notes in January

    There are no circumstances that pay back pay the 3 month waiting period applies to every claim 

    Back pay is only paid if the process takes longer to get to a decision  than the waiting period which in your case didnt happen

    There is one - if death is likely within six months.

    Would you know if you can get an advance on this payment. I've got 160 left to pay off my last advance payment

    I'm not sure if you still have advance outstanding I doubt it 

    Advances are on your uc not just the additional payment

    To get a Budgeting Advance, you must have:
    • been getting Universal Credit, income-related Employment and Support Allowance, Income Support, income- related Jobseeker’s Allowance or State Pension Credit for 6 months or more, unless you need the money to help you start a new job or keep an existing job
    • earned less than £2,600 (£3,600 jointly for couples) in the past 6 months
    • paid off any previous Budgeting Advances
