Son might need to go to a SEN school. Who needs to contact his current school once we get his EHCP?

Hey we applied for main stream school and found out today that he has been accepted , we are waiting for our echp to come through cause they think  hopefully he needs to  go to our local special education school . Not sure how what we supposed to do wait to contact the main stream school or do they do that ? Any advice ?‍♀️

    Hi :) I think that this is a combination of work between the Local Authority and the school. I think it might be worth contacting the local authority to explain that you have a place and where - I am sure the school do their own investigations but I think it might be worth you contacting the council so they have had interaction from both sides? You could also copy in the school/their SENCo in to any communication so that they know you are in the loop? I'd see what others say as I don't have direct experience but as a former teacher I think it is always good to speak to the Local Authority and school from your side too to get things done :)

    Thankyou ? will see what others say to , there's so much paperwork dont know where I am sometimes.  My husband tends to deal with most stuff but would like to start to help and understand more ?

    Apparently we have to accept the place at the mainstream school for now . And the special education school will talk to the headteacher of the school if and when the ECHP come through we have to wait a little longer to find out where my little boy will be going ...

    Hi has anyone been offered or declined a specialist school yet I know the schools in my area went to the panel a couple of weeks ago but still know news on placements yet

    Also did anyone except the mainstream place while awaiting to here about a Sen school

    Yes we accepted the main stream school and now still waiting to hear if he will get in sen school .

    Not sure if all areas are different but we have no expected date . Just waiting I suppose

    He got his  ECHP now and applied for sens just waiting to hear back if he got in or not .. not sure when we know
