Hi everyone , what a beautiful sunny day it's been, hope you've all been enjoying it.
I'm new - our 3 and a half year old just got diagnosed on Friday ( provisionally) with mild cerebral palsy and I'm trying to get my head round it. All I know is he is amazing and I wouldnt have him any other way that who is is. He's such a sunny boy. But obviously there's alot to think about.
Is there anyone here that is a similar situation ? Or further down the path? I'm feeling quite overwhelmed as I have a daughter who was relatively recently diagnosed with ASC and sensory and has been needing alot of support. I just want to do my very best by them both .

Hi @Rosmum - I'm pleased to be the first to welcome you to Scope's online forum. It has been a lovely day, & I've enjoyed being out in the garden. It sounds like your son has a lovely Mum, who appreciates him for how he is, but I can imagine his diagnosis on top of your daughter's must feel a bit overwhelming, tho I'm sure you will do your very best for both of your children.

We do have a lot of parents whose children have Cerebral Palsy, & also adults who know what it's like growing up with it. I'll ask our CP Specialist officer to get in touch with you after the Bank Holiday. Please @Richard_Scope would you chat to this Mum, thank you.

Great to virtually meet you! I have CP too as do many members of the community. When I was growing up it was important for me that the focus was on what I could do and that I was allowed to try and sometimes fail at things.
Here are some good books that you could perhaps read with your son:
