Face to face social group

I am writing because I am interested in setting up a group that are able to meet once a month maybe more depending on the level of interest. The pacific disability I have is cerebral palsy but I want this to be open to everyone no matter what age or ability I want to create a safe space for people to share their experiences and feelings, are able to relate to each other without the fear of being judged  or feeling like there are any hypothetical barriers. I have looked into social groups but unfortunately there is a lot happening in places like London which is a bit of a trek to get to on a regular basis and is not very convenient to me and I am sure there are others of the same opinion. I would like the opportunity for something more local as I live in the south east area near Gatwick I have a potential venue I could approach. I would welcome your thoughts and would this be of interest to anyone.

    Hi @JBro :) Have you tried to see if there are any online groups, such as Facebook groups, for disabled people local to your area? This might help you to find other people who live close to you who might be interested in meeting up face to face.

    Have you thought about how else you could advertise the group? It might be a good idea to see if there are any organisations in your area that work with disabled people, or something along those lines, who you could team up with.

    I help to run a Virtual Cafe two Mondays a month. Our research found that people are happy to continue with it virtually as it removes the barrier of transport etc as not everybody drives. Being virtual allows you to reach more people from all over the country. In future, once the restrictions are lifted we will be exploring the potential for face to face meet-ups.
