Son has CP 16 months. He has a splint, but it's making his falling worse. Can this improve?

Hi my son was diagnosed with CP at 10 months and is now 16 months. He can walk now but falls all the time. He has a splint now but i feel its making bis falling worse anyone can this and it improve?

    Welcome to the community ?

    I’d recommend you get in touch with the orthotist that prescribed your son the splint and request a review. You know your son best in terms of his walking pattern, so don’t discount your concerns it’s better to get these things checked out, it may just be a case of the splint needing a minor tweak or slight adjustment which could make all the difference (I say this from experience)

    If your son is seeing a physio I would also ask their opinion as well, then you’ll have more information to take to your orthotic review appointment 

    The other tip I would suggest is record your son walking with and without the splint at home on your phone or tablet then you can show this to the orthotist at the appointment because the video will be more natural for your son in his own environment at home and you can playback the differences

    Completely agree with the advice from @Stayce. The more information and evidence you can gather and provide the orthotist and physiotherapist the better.
    What type of shoes is he wearing, have they been changed recently?
