Lend a WAV?

My CP friend has been asked to speak about Disability and Accessibility at a music festival in Honiton this week.  To get there we need a WAV as he is powered wheelchair user.  We've looked into hiring one for the weekend but it's prohibitively expensive.  Does anyone have a WAV they could lend/hire us to make this dream a possibility?  I have a full clean driving licence, I'm a 48-year-old woman, have driven all around Europe in a camper/bus.  We are London based but happy to travel to you to collect and drop it off.  Happy to pay to go on your insurance for the duration of our lend/hire. Please call me asap on <moderator removed personal details>

Hi and welcome to the community

I'm sorry but this isn't the type of thing we can help with

It is a  online forum offering advice and information and support

Part of the forum rules are that for personal safeguarding we do not allow personal information to be published

Is there a community travel service in your area at all
Or maybe the event organisers have a solution

Oh, that's a shame.  Does it work if I take off my telephone number and rephrase my request? The event organisers don't have a solution and I am not aware of a community travel service in my area but I will research it.

It is very expensive to hire a WAV.

My suggestion would be to use the train and then a WAV taxi. That's how I used to get around.

    Hi @womandancingwild

I have everything crossed you and your friend manage to get to the festival this week.  Please keep us updated with how you get on.

Just to advise: I've removed your mobile number from your initial post to protect your details - as per our house rules.  And also, I've moved your post to our Motability, Blue Badges and disabled motoring category.

All the best to you both :)

    Thanks you Mods.

The WAV would also double as a somewhere dry to sleep overnight.  He'll tip his chair back and I'll bed down on some sheepkins and blankets - so train and taxi isn't an option.
