, I found this article, maybe it can help you.
Thank you, Hannah. What are your thoughts on
<moderator removed - links to advertising not allowed>? On the site you linked there's an article about it, but I am unsure whether it is really safe. Do you have any experience?
Hello, I am unsure, I haven't had a joint replacement, but I think you can read it all <moderator removed - links to advertising not allowed>  :)

I have arthritis in my knees, wrists and shoulders. I have been taking paracetamol, Co-codamol and using Ibuprofen gel. I have now started on Pregabalin today as the others were not doing the job. I will update if anything changes as they say these could take a few weeks to work.

I have osteo all over. I take paracetamol, nefopam, etodolac. At the moment it is not controlling my lower back pain and I hate opiates. Never tried cbd as I dont know where to start but would love to try as I feel it is the only option left.

I buy CBD from a reputable company whose CBD is lab certified. This green oil has an additional component, CBDa, which helps with pain. https://www.simply-cbd.co.uk/product/simplycbd-green-10ml-30ml/   The 30ml bottle is the same strength as the 10ml one, but just fractionally cheaper.

Put one drop of the oil under your tongue three times a day for the first week. Leave under your tongue for 1 min (or a little longer if possible) then swallow.

The 2nd week you do 2 drops 3 times a day; the 3rd week 3 drops 3 times a day; 4th week 4 drops 3 times a day, then build up each week by an additional drop 3 times a day if needed. If one week you start to feel a little worse again, you drop back to the previous week's dosage, & that should be your maintenance dosage. Some people get results quickly; for others it can take about 8 weeks as everyone is different.

Initially CBD can make you feel a little dehydrated, so drink a little extra water if you find this.

We have what is called an endocannabinoid system which tries to keep the body in balance, or homeostasis. This system needs to be 'woken' up gradually, which is why so many people try CBD & think it doesn't work for them if they take too much, or too strong a strength of CBD. So that’s why you start ‘low & slow.’

    See: https://www.healthline.com/health/endocannabinoid-system  for some info.

The important bit.......CBD is broken down by some liver enzymes that break down over 90% of prescribed medications. For safety's sake it's considered best to leave a 4 hour gap between such meds & taking CBD. otherwise you might not get the effect of your meds, or you might get an accidental overdose of them. CBD is otherwise completely safe. You can ask your GP or specialist about this, but actually a pharmacist may understand more.....ask them if your meds are broken down by the cytochrome P450 complex (the liver enzymes mentioned); if so, it’s best to have a 4 hour gap between taking such a med & CBD.

If you take any over the counter meds. leave a 2 hour gap between taking them & any CBD to err on the safe side. However, if any of these contain codeine, then a 4 hour gap is best.

CBD lasts between 4-6 hours, which is why it's best taken 3 times a day. If because of your medication, & leaving a 4 hour gap between taking these & CBD, you can’t manage this, twice a day can still be helpful.

*Anyone suffering from anxiety should try either of these other starter oils instead, which are lower in strength: https://www.simply-cbd.co.uk/products/light-cbd-oil

https://www.simply-cbd.co.uk/products/liquid-gold-cbd-oil-with-turmeric-and-black-pepper (however some don’t tolerate turmeric, which can upset the stomach). If suffering from anxiety, start taking CBD even more slowly, i.e. 1 drop a day for a few days, then if well tolerated take one drop twice a day, & build up slowly from there. If anxiety worsens, drop back down to the previous day’s drops. Often people with anxiety are helped by very low doses indeed.                                    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    From: https://www.rcgp.org.uk/about-us/news/2018/december/rcgp-publishes-guidance-for-gps-on-cannabis-based-medicines-and-products.aspx

‘Cannabidiol (CBD) is ... legally available as herbal supplement and is not a prescription medicine.’

    - So, unfortunately, most GPs likely wouldn’t be able to advise where to buy CBD; what strength; how to start taking it; & in what quantities.

    - The info I give is from my personal experience of taking CBD for almost 3 years, & from my research; it is so a person can take CBD most importantly safely, & hopefully effectively. This does not constitute medical advice, & should not be taken as such.

You're welcome @littleacorn - I'm fortunate in that the only prescribed med I take is Pregabalin, which isn't broken down by the liver. I did check with the pharmacist who's at my GPs surgery anyway, & she was lovely about it. The CBD does in fact take away my lower back pain if I take it regularly, & I'm hoping you find the same. :)

Hi I'm in pain all the time. The pain killers don't help.
Not sure if you’ve tried it but I’ve been put on nefopam for osteoporosis back pain and find it’s working wonders might be worth a mention to the GP?

Nobody should be recommending any pain killers, it really isn't safe. Even CBD oil can interact with some medication. The only thing is to speak to a GP
