Hi all. I have been awarded LCWRA, however still struggling financially so looking in to getting part time work. The work I would be doing would not contradict why I was awarded LCWRA.
33 years old
Single claim £411.51
Housing £341.49
LCWRA £343.63
The job would be 15 hours a week at NMW.
How much can I earn before money gets deducted from my benefits?
Thanks.

Hi ..as you have ocwra yoy will have a work allowance
You can earn £293 per month if you get help with housing costs or £515 if you don't get help with housing
You can earn these amounts before your uc affected
If you earn more than this you will lose 63p in every pound you earn over the work allowance -
Thank you

Bear in mind that working could affect other things like council tax reduction reduction for example but each council has it's own rules
-
So am I right in thinking that if I were to earn £540 per month,
540 minus max allowance of 293 =247
So 247 x 0.63 = 155.61
So from my wage of £540 per month, £155.61 would be deducted?
So I would be £384.39 better off per month? Thanks. -
Because you have LCWRA the first £293/month of your earnings will be ignored. There will be a deduction of 63% of net pay above £293/month.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Rules may be different in other parts of UK.

Thank you. Do my calculations above look correct?
It's hard to work out how much better off I would be with fuel costs etc. -
The calculation appears correct. You would be receiving a wage of £540 but your UC would reduce by £155.61 leaving you £384.39/month better off.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Rules may be different in other parts of UK.
