Hi @Trevor1961 and welcome to the community! Unfortunately, we are not medical professionals therefore we wouldn't be able to help you make this decision. Have you discussed this with your GP/Consultant?Disability Gamechanger - 2019

hi @Trevor1961 I can only echo what @Ami2301 says and that we are not medical experts and not allowed to give medical advice, have you discussed this with your GP or consultant?2024 The year of the general election...the time for change is coming 💡

Yes I saw my spine specialist back in June this year.2021 . And he told me if I have the operation I could be in more pain than what I am in now. And he also said if I do not have the operation I could land up losing my bladder and my bowels completely and will never work again. I am trying to find a support group that somebody as as your probation or has not had the operation to give me a piece of mind which way to turn or go

Hello @Trevor1961
Welcome to the community. How are you?
Thanks for your post, I hope you are able to hear from others who have lived experience, either through themselves or a loved one, of this condition and the operation, but our members will not be able to provide medical advice on the matter.

A couple of points to add, surgery is seen as a last port of call. Have you had other non-invasive treatments, like physio or injections into your spine? You could also speak to your GP, to seek a second opinion from another surgeon.
You could also check with your GP, if there is a local pain management group you could join, or if there is a programme you could participate in.
Hope this helps.
Keep us informed.
