Award offer before MR

Hi,
I'm writing this on behalf of my brother. He put in for PIP in March but got no points. So his MP wrote to Appeals asking for an MR. He also sent in some new medical & psych evidence. They emailed his MP & said that they had looked at his claim again & decided he was entitled to Standard Daily Living. No mobility. There was no need to go to appeal.
He wants to take it but I cautioned him. I read a parliamentary report that criticised the Appeals for ringing and emailing people to offer them award knowing they were desperate and were reluctant to go thru the stress of Tribunals. They were given a guarantee that the process would cease.
He's happy with the award bc he will be back paid & wrongly assumes he'll get SDP as well. He's on universal credit & new style ESA so he won't get SDP. But what often happens with him is he doesn't listen to people and assumes he knows better. I just know further down the line he'll regret it. Its not like I don't know what I'm talking about. I've successfully won back payments for edp on ESA & went through 2 successfull PIP Appeals.
I'm just wondering has anyone been thru this sort of situation themselves or as a rep for someone?
Take care,
TB.

    Hi there

Not been through it but reading other posts on here they seem to offer the lower award to avoid the appeal

I would wait till the award letter comes and take it from there to see where he could get more points

Yeah. I think he wasn't even aware or told by his MP how many points he got. I think he's being hasty. As for the SDP on UC, I've told him he doesn't qualify fur the transitional payments as he is only being awarded PIP now. I won't even mention the gateway. It does seem unfair that he won't qualify for sdp but that was what the architect's of Universal Credit wanted.

Is there any need for the attitude? Who do you think you are talking to me like that?
You don't tell me what to do! You need to learn how to respond to people in a respectful manner.
This is a place were people come to get support, your attitude stinks. Obviously you have a problem and to compensate you bully other people. This is a forum where trust is important. Lots of people have emotional problems and don't deserve to be talked to like that.
Don't you ever comment on my posts again, your advice for what is worth is not wanted.
I have to put up with alot of things in my personal life but I never take it out on other people. It's just not fair.
I'll be reporting your outburst to the Scope.

Whatever problem you have with me be a man and say it. I disagree with alot of things people say on this forum but I would never demean or be disrespectful to them.
You have an attitude problem, you're a bully. Pick on someone else. Make yourself feel important. Remember this though you are lucky you are on the other side of a computer because if you and I were in same room you wouldn't be talking to me the way you are.
And I don't care whether I get to post again on this site.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me and given me invaluable advice. Too many to name but please be aware I appreciate all of you.
