I have had an assessment for Disability injuries and was only awarded 8% even thou 2 of my fingers are numb and the pain in my arms due to this is sometimes unbearable the fact I can not feel the tips of my fingers is the biggest issue so 8 % seems a bit low I am taking the decision further but was told on the phone it would make no difference and that I would have to go to court anyone else had any issues like this and won

Hi and welcome to the community

Sorry I have no experience of disability injuries assessment and how they work

The only logic I could give is that fingers are probably proportionate to the same sort of % of your body that you have been scored

But like I say I know nothing about it hopefully others will be able to help

    Just wanted to say hi

Hi @kirstycarp - & welcome to the community.  :)  I'm sorry about the injury you have received, unfortunately, like Jane, I don't know about this either. Did you get any advice from a solicitor specialising in this field?

Hi @kirstycarp and a warm welcome to our community, how are you doing today?

You'll have to excuse my question as I'm not a specialist by any means in this area, but was this assessment for Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit?  And, as mentioned, did you have any support with your claim?

If you could provide us with a few more details that would help us to help you :)  Also, you might notice I've tweaked the title of your thread - this is to help make it more visible to others who have experience/knowledge of this process.

Take care and speak again soon.

Hi yes it was for industrial injuries disablement benefit and I did have all the doctor reports when it happened it was in 2018 when it happened I have no other doctors bits since it happened as there is nothing that can be done from them I have put back to the benefit people I’m not happy with the decision but all I got from them was it won’t help and it will need to go to tribunal so was after a bit of help to see what I could do
    thanks

    Hi @kirstycarp

Although you've been advised not to speak with a solicitor, I do think it'd be beneficial to contact someone trained in welfare rights to get a better understanding of your position and how to approach the tribunal.

You can find a free, local independent welfare organisation by visiting Advice Local or alternatively, you could speak with Citizens Advice who have various contact methods.

Good luck and please keep us updated with how you get on.
