Hello ?

Thank you for letting me join you all.

My names Samantha but Sam for short.  I'm 30 years old and a mum of 2. Two and a half years ago i had an injury that led me to become disabled. My Ma and partner are my 24/7 carers and care for my children also. I am incredibly grateful to all four of them for the care that they so selflessly provide me.

I've been housebound after loosing the use of 2 limbs, 1 arm and 1 leg, but I've now been assessed for a wheelchair! I have some freedom back ?

Is there any social or active clubs/event/groups in Coventry my partner and I could attend?
Any we could take the children too?
Any for myself alone?

I have full capacity but about the independence of a toddler. That's my personal self description. I have not yet found ways of managing my conditions.

My social life is non existent now and it is having a knock on effect on the rest of the family ?‍?‍?‍?

    Hello @samx90x

Welcome to the community, good to see you join us and thanks for telling us a bit about yourself.

Good to hear of your wheelchair assessment and I'm glad that you feel positive about getting some of your independence back as you put it :)  Your supportive family do sound wonderful though.

Have you tried speaking with your local council to see if they can provide a list of local activities?  You might find this information directory for Coventry helpful,  likewise it might be worthwhile visiting your nearest Scope shop, which you can find here, to see if the staff can recommend any places or activities for your family.

Hi and welcome to the community

Thanks for sharing with us about yourself

I can empathise with you having lost my leg 4 year's ago

It takes time to adapt to doing things differently but you will get there over time

A positive attitude goes a long way and try and focus on what you can do not what you can't

I'm not from your area so don't know what is available but there will be lots of accessible places to go to if you can find them

    Good luck

Hello @samx90x - & welcome to the community, Sam. I don't know if the following website may offer anything above what Ross has mentioned, as often your local council may offer more specific activities, but. just in case, mentioning https://www.ableize.com/

    Hi @samx90x
I'm a Coventrian too! Don't forget there is some great City of Culture '21 events going on around the city. The large majority of which are accessible.
