How do I find someone who will accept me as I am?

I'm wondering if there is a method of meeting young people with mild cerebral palsy and ASD.. without using a dating app such as Tinder.

Hi there
There is a online dating group called outsiders which is a disabled dating group -
Hi, what is it called?

Outsiders

Hi @BrodyBrody2021 This is a link to the Outsiders club that Janer1967 mentioned.
Some others that I'm aware of are:
I don't have first-hand experience of any of these sites, so please remember to check that you're comfortable sharing your details with them before signing up!
Another good way of meeting people can be to join other social groups for things you're interested in, as you immediately have something in common. Do you have any specific interests? This can be a good way of increasing your confidence in interacting with other people, as well as allowing you to meet a wide range of people.
If you're aged over 20, you might like to consider joining Scope and CP Sport's online CP Cafe. This isn't a dating service, but it would allow you to meet virtually and share experiences with others who live with CP. -
I never used those websites before.

Do you think you might give them a go @chloeknight16071992?
-
Well no my parents wouldn't allow it.

Hi @BrodyBrody2021,
how are you today? -
Hi @BrodyBrody2021
Thanks for reaching out to us. I always appreciate how much courage it must take to reach out.
In terms of connecting with other people with autism, I am wondering if you have heard of the National Autistic Society's social groups? If you are interested, you can find out more information about these at https://www.autism.org.uk/what-we-do/support-in-the-community/social-groups
Also, not in terms of dating but more in terms of general meeting other people with similar experiences, we have sections of our community boards dedicated to talking to other people about autism and cerebral palsy. You can find the autism discussions at https://forum.scope.org.uk/categories/learning-disabilities-and-autism and the cerebral palsy discussions at https://forum.scope.org.uk/categories/physical-impairments-and-cerebral-palsy
I hope this helps but if you have any more questions or need any further support, please don't hesitate to reach out to us again soonCommunity Volunteer Adviser with professional knowledge of education, special educational needs and disabilities and EHCP's. Pronouns: She/her.
Please note: if I use the online community outside of its hours of administration, I am doing so in a personal capacity only. -
Hi @BrodyBrody2021,
It's been a while since your last post, so I just wanted to check in and see how you're doing with it all? It takes so much courage to be vulnerable and ask for support, especially when it comes to topics like this. I wonder if you have tried any of the services recommended above? It can be so validating to connect with other disabled people, even if only as a friendship, which is why it's great to see you here. You have already taken the first step
If it helps, this is something that many people in the community also find difficult, so you're not alone in any way. Still, you deserve to experience love in exactly the same way as everyone else & I really hope that some of these suggestions will help you get there.Community Volunteer Host (she/her) with a passion for writing and making the world a better place for disabled people to exist.
