I have hypercholesteroaemia . .
My cholesterol is very high, not because of diet I'm 7 stone 9 pounds but because of a faulty something or other (ok that may not be the medical term)
I'd been unable to physically attend the clinic and had phone consults, due to covid.
I'd been prescribed statins which had no effect and am now taking fenofibrate, with again no effect.
I was asked to attend the clinic and after explaining why I couldn't and requesting further phone consults I was told that would not be possible...when it had before.
I told them to cancel and was told I'd be taken off the clinic and referred back to my gp.

I just had to have a meds review over the phone and was asked about this and explained and she said to leave it with her.
She called today to say I can have a phone consult on Oct 1st but I would need a blood test first so she said she had arranged it to be at the same time as my flu jab so I only had to make the one trip to the surgery...
I thought that was so kind of her, going out of her way to help.
And won't need to fret about the cholesterol going unmanaged.

@chiarieds thanks for that...I've not had heart problems or stroke but maybe something they might look at if nowt else is working.
I had abnormal ecg and had to have heart scan but they found nothing abnormal.
I do have hypertension which I was told may have accounted for the abnormal ecg.

Hi @Cress - I read about this a couple of days ago, but thought of you when you mentioned statins had been ineffective. Read the last para of the link.
'Some people can effectively lower their cholesterol levels by making lifestyle changes, such as improving their diet and exercise. When this is unsuccessful, reducing cholesterol by taking a daily statin is a highly effective way to reduce the risk of a heart attack or stroke. However, some people are unable to effectively lower their cholesterol with statins, and these patients may benefit from this new way of lowering cholesterol.'

Oh yeah, so I might be able to have that...must admit it was a bit of a worry when I found nothing had as yet worked.

Thanks again @chiarieds I might bring it up on my consult...
