Confused about PIP call. Can they call you to say you've been awarded, rather than send a letter?

Hi all, i was just wondering, because something doesn't sound right, my sisters best friend, has been award PIP but my sister said they called her and said she's been award it? I thought that it was a letter not call? If its true as my sister thinks her friend is wrong. How come they are calling people? Ta for reading.

It has been known for them to ring with the decision, especially if the PIP award entitles them to other benefits. I don’t see anything wrong here.0

@poppy123456. She didn't know they would call well we've never known anyone to confirm like that we thought it was always post that DWP would just post and its only because her best friend is a bit of a story teller so to speak. But thanks for the reply0
