Hi, firstly id like to apologise for my name xxx I was having trouble joining and tried several times,and put xxx in for speed while I resolved the issue....of course that time it worked, my name is Mel.

has anyone knowledge or experience of the above, its been recommended for my 16 year Old son and I know very little about it. Thanks

    I had bilateral hamstring release as part of a larger block of surgeries when I was younger. 
    The surgery is very straight forward but the physiotherapy afterwards is intense. It will probably involve your son needing to sleep in night splints, often called 'gators'. These splints will help stretch the hamstrings and help prevent them from returning to their previous tension. The spasms may also be stronger for a while too. That can be managed quite effectively with medication.

    can I ask how old you were?
    Was it a one off?
    Did it solve/improve the issue?
    How long was your recovery (I understand it will be different for different people)

    Thanks for the questions
    I was 13 years old
    It was part of a series of soft tissue surgeries. It has been a one-off in my case.
    It has improved my mobility. It would have probably been more of a success had I not turned my back on physiotherapy at around 15 years old. Then I had the transition from paediatric to adult services which is not good.
    I was in the hospital for a year but that is due to the additional surgeries that I underwent. I was on the exercise bike two days after the hamstring surgery though.

    Wow! very impressed with bike riding so soon after op.
    Plenty to think about now..only just been put on the list but I wanted to be prepared.
