I'm a dog person

I love all animals, but dogs are the best1 -
i love dogs we have a lab hes so dopey but hes ours .leeCal said:Although I like cats well enough I prefer dogs generally.
With a dog you have an excuse to go for a walk and not look suspicious wandering about.
Also you can have a rough and tumble with a dog, not so easy with a cat.
Also if you have a dog sit on your lap they don’t tend to extend their claws in delight and scratch your legs.
Additionally they bark if there’s an intruder, and they are less independent which makes you feel needed.
And generally speaking they seem more sympathetic if you have troubles.
How about you, which do you or would you prefer given a choice?

I prefer cats but I like dogs too. Cats seem to be more independent and stubborn which can make them really interesting pets. My cat Monty is very affectionate. He has a few funny quirks like standing at the top of the stairs and yelling at me to clean his litter box as soon as he has used it?❤️3

@nannymaroon, I like all animals, though I have 2 part Bengal cats, who are really interesting. They talk to me when they are hungry, when they want to play, when they want to go to bed or just that I haven’t spoken to them for a while. They are house cats and are very affectionate and love kisses.2

Cats can show real intelligence. Years ago we had a cat which would jump up onto a window sill by the front door and lift the knocker once or twice to come in, honestly it was quite a revelation. I thought it was clever at the time when I was eight years old but now I think it was astounding! ? ?3

There are videos online of cats and dogs ringing video doorbells and reacting to the owners voices. But lifting the knocker twice is quite a feat.leeCal said:Cats can show real intelligence. I've had both and like both, but on balance and for practicality as a disabled person, it has to be cats. I can't get out in the winter months or when the weather is bad so walking a dog would be impossible.
I lost my last cat a few years a go to heart failure, she was 20. I would love another one and I'm sure one will find me when the time is right.
Now I keep degus.3 -
I like both dogs and cats, had two beautiful Maine coons who have since passed, also a hedgehog called Hector I miss them all, pets bring such pleasure

@Kaddy, Hi, I love all animals but I have cats. My mum had an hedgehog last year, she called spiked. She went out and bought some proper hedgehog food and it came everyday. Then one day she could hear a noise outside and when she went to look there was 2 hedgehogs. My mum said it was his girlfriend. Though, after the time that 2 came, he hasn’t been back since. Secretly I think my mum loved seeing him every night and feeding him ?3

Leecal they both passed when they were 12, one was older than the other, they both developed spinal problems which started then to lose the used of their back legs and tails, they were beautiful gentle giants, Hector was an African Pygmy with such character2

Main c**ns are my favorite breed of cats, so big, fluffy and full of character.2

Hi Everyone,
I am a fan of both cats and dogs and my family have had both animals when I was young. They brought a lot of joy to us all.
The pros of owning a cat: They can look after themselves.
The pros of having a dog, you get people wanting to start a conversation with you when you take your dog for a walk. :-)1 -
Catman. My sister has 2, my Niece had them from a resue centre and named them Thomas and Donald. My landlady won't allow them as I rent and as I don't have a garden it would a little unfair. Family had Burmese in the past.1
